General912 Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 Hey I heard that rounded cables dont work as well but i would think that they work the same.
justinal Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 thats a myth they work just as good and they increase airflow.
savethedodobird Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Why wouldnt they work as well they are the exact same thing except the are in a round sleeving.
battery Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 how much of a difference do they make in air flow?
DimensioN Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 well it depends. if you have 5 rounded cables in your case, or 5 normal ones... that with the normal ones, i don't that there's much movement left in the air.. with the round cables there would be now problem.. it's really worth the 10$

Overclocker16 Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 I heard someone say they put rounded cables in and it dropped CPU temp about 10* (not sure if it's C or F.)
justinal Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 that sounds like bs but it could be true.
Overclocker16 Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 I believe it because flat cables really screw the airflow (aerodynamics ) of the inside of the case.
Misled Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 Rounded cables dont necessarily work any worse than flat if you're talking about signal integrity. The issue came up because of the nature of the cable in the first place. A flat cable is constructed so that each signal line has a ground line on both of its sides to reduce reflection and cross talk. Some people thought that by using a rounded cable you would effectively lose this because you could have signal lines in closer proximity and thats certainly possible especially as you increase the bus frequency. I think it reallys depends on the manufacturer of the cable though. Here's some more reading on the subject.
