Fanatic Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Memory, try moving the sticks around.
LoArmistead Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Typically that's a RAM issue. Try running a bootable memtest and see what it brings up. It could also be a HDD issue, but I'd say rule out the RAM first and foremost. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
snakieee Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 i think it is the ram what should i do if it is?
CheeseMan42 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I had an issue where my motherboard autoset the memory timings incorrectly. You could try going to the manufacturer's site and seeing if you have the correct timings.
snakieee Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 ok id blow something up... i wonder if i can send it back?
LoArmistead Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Woah, hawsey! Have you run memtest yet? If you have a computer that can get online, download bootable memtest, burn the image to a CD and run it in your new rig. See if it throws any memory errors. The last thing you want to do is send your RAM back when the problem could've been your HDD, BIOS SATA settings, power supply, etc. Since one of the main causes for blue screens during XP setup is the RAM, rule faulty memory out before you do anything else. snakieee Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 i just ran a test and it came up with nothing but errors
oldfett Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Take one of the sticks out and run memtest again, if you still get errors swap the sticks. It could be that just one of the sticks is having problems.
