sorrel Posted May 26, 2002 Posted May 26, 2002 i'm working with xp pro. i can't open a link when it refers directly to an .exe file on a ftp-server. i always have to log on to the ftp-server and then copy the .exe file to my harddisk to open it. how do i adjust this security measure? it isn't always possible to log in to an ftp-server without a login name and password, so some files are just unreachable for me while they should be reachable for every one... zipperhead Posted May 29, 2002 Posted May 29, 2002 Thats what a FTP server is for FTP=File Transfer Protocol..it's used for transfering/sharing files...the admin to the site has the server setup (permissions/restrictions)so u cant run files on the server itself....i.e. so u can't destroy the server with a virus etc...is that the answer your looking for?
