suchuwato Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Your router may have an option. I used to set mine so it kicked my brother from Halo between 5pm and 1am every day Edit: I'm wayyyyyy slow today
iKillSteal Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) Is it possible? He uses that damn ventrillo with wow and it kills my bandwidth.... Vent and WoW killing bandwidth? Back when I used to play WoW(and used vent for raiding and whatnot) nobody in our house complained about bandwidth issues. Heck, I even checked once with both up and running and the family computer was getting full bandwidth. Check to make sure that nobody in your house is downloading torrents or trying to open 20 youtube videos in FF/IE because I highly doubt WoW and vent are eating up your bandwidth... Fireonice Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I always have torrents going... His vent/WoW useage doesnt help when im trying to surf. I guess i could close the ports but then he would ###### and moan. I just want to limit him to like 10 kb/s up and 100 kb/s down and i would be happy. IIxNullxII Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I always have torrents going... I can almost guarantee thats the problem... unless you have the worst ISP and speed package. WoW and vent/TS use about as must as a couple of 56K modems. Also check for viruses, trojens running hidden servers on your/his PC etc. Another thing is if you have a wireless router, make sure no one else is on it, e.g. a next-door neighbor. jammin Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Is it possible? He uses that damn ventrillo with wow and it kills my bandwidth.... Is it possible? Probably (depending on what options your router has). Is it ethical? Unlikely (unless you are the one paying for your internet connection, then do whatever you want )

I play with my roommates; with all three of us on WoW and Vent at the same time we have bandwidth to spare on our 3M/384k connection. Your torrents are the problem. Limit your upstream bandwidth as well as the total number of connection (which is most likely your problem) and stop being so selfish. snakieee Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I agree Torrents are hogs... I have to wait till parents have gone to bed because it hogs so much bandwidth my parents can't use the phone(Vontage).
Silverfox Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I pay the internet in my shared house here, and we get slower speeds in the evening from our ISP, so I cut people off when I feel like it by only allowing my MAC address. Hell, if they don't like it, they can always pay towards the monthly fees ...
UkJenT Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I agree with Waco. The problem stems from the torrents you have going, not your brother using WoW and Vent.
