Luke08 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) I recently ordered the following parts for a new system I'm building and realized after the fact that PSU does not have an 8-pin cpu cable but instead 2 4-pin cpu cables. DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS LGA 775 Intel P35 $139.99 OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS ATX12V / EPS12V 600W Power Supply $79.99 MIR Although I haven't received the parts yet,I downloaded the manual for the DFI board and it said that a 4 or 8 pin will work but that the 8-pin is preferred. I'm looking for recommendations on what would be best without getting a different PSU. - Should I just use the 4-pin? - Should I get a 4 to 8-pin converter? If so, any recommendations on one to use? I found these - Is it possible to use both 4-pins ? Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Edited February 11, 2008 by Luke08
Zerox12 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I have the same PSU and it does in fact have the capability to do the 8 pin. So you'll be fine.
Luke08 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Thanks for the reply - that's what I was hoping to hear.
cchalogamer Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Yeah...the PSU has that plug as stated above, on another note the system will run just fine on a 4 pin, though overclocking could be limited depending on the board's power design and CPU used in such a situation. Anyway, enjoy the toys
PeterStoba Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 The PSU should have an 8pin that splits into 2 x 4pin for 4pin boards
werty316 Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 That OCZ StealthXStream has an 8-pin connector so as everyone has stated, you'll be fine.
