McClendon Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 yea i just popped my 5600+ dual that i was using. Need a new processor fast and this is the newegg deal: 5000 Black Box 99.00 OR 5600+ 139.00 Differance is cache and speed. I can easily overcome the speed diff of 2.6 ghz (5000) vs. 2.8 (5600). I was runnin my current 5600 at 3.06 no problem. Of course i popped it so not sure on that. So that leaves the Cache difference. I love the idea i can easily overclock the 5000, and the price is awesome. Thoughts please i need to order before morning to get it here quickly. road-runner Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I am not sure if more cache helps AMD cpu's or not, I know on Intel it does....

silbluever Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Sorry to here about your 5600+. I was going to buy the 5000 BE but the smaller cache size and lower overclocks I have seen sent me to the 5600. The one I have came from Newegg and is running at 3470Ghz stable with watercooling. I hope you have better luck with your next proc.
Waco Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 RMA your current CPU and get a new one. It shouldn't have popped unless you were sending crazy voltages to it.
mattwalter85 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 or you could always just sell everything and build an Intel rig

McClendon Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Thanks everyone for the help. I ordered the 5000+ Black and am happy with it. Turned out it was a bad motherboard (new 790x from MSI) not a bad processor. On a side note: I stay with AMD for a multitude of reasons. While right now (and perhaps for a lil while to come) Intel has an admitted edge, I am greatly offended at their business practices. Not to mention they have always needed competition from AMD in order to keep their fires burning. Thanks anyway to the Intel enthusiasts.
