romeo55 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Isn't an e8400 a duo, which the 680is have been supporting. But cool stuff on the quads on those boards.
hardnrg Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 (edited) the latest official bios release from DFI specifically lists added support for 45nm http://us.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bios...G=B&SITE=US and because the DFI isn't a reference board like EVGA/XFX etc, it should work for 45nm quad Edited February 4, 2008 by hardnrg
crafty101 Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 well i had a striker extreme just sold it i put the E8400 wolfdale in it and it did boot up and run but as soon as you tried to do anything with it it would shut down and lock up so ASUS said that they had a alpha bios update i think 1501 but there not working on it because they want to get the new boards out so for you striker extreme owners you might have to wait awhile. like i said i just sold mine and bought a evea 780i to run with my e8400 wolfdale and maybe a new quad later. good luck guys asus has let us down
ir_cow Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 as long as the bus speeds supported by the board i dont see why there the NM makes the difference.
werty316 Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 (edited) I think it has to do with the electrical aspect where the reference 680i boards do not meet the 45nm quadcore requirements, if that makes any sense.
