youeffsee Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) kk so heres the deal.... i have a dell c521 <_< and have recently learnt bout overclocking...so ive spent weeks self teaching myself on the ins an outs of overclocking (great thx to this forum....finding this forum prolly saved me hrs of google searchs ) only to find out when i finally did go to my bios to try out my 1st overclock that dells are locked out :angry2: (the 1 thing i never thought bout checking into lol) so im gonna trash this thing and build my own comp.....now im still quite noob when it comes to comps but ive done a bit of research and ive decided on what parts i wanna use and would really love alil input from a few experts b4 i thro down $800+ so my list is as follows.......Gigabyte MA790X-DS4 Motherboard........AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition Processor........Ultra X2 750-Watt Power Supply........OCZ Dual Channel Reaper 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz and im gonna put it in a CoolerMaster CM690 ATX Mid-Tower Case i have a extra cpu fan kickin around but im gonna replace that with a ThermalTake Big Water 760i Liquid Cooling System Kit after about a month or 2 or juss build a water kit from scratch. but if im missing anything or ya notice that anything isnt compatible ive noticed that this is prolly my best place out there to get this kind of info and would really value ur advise edit:sorry to the mods i juss realized i put this in the wrong section.......sorry noob mistake Edited February 2, 2008 by youeffsee
ARandomOWL Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I have no experience with AMD cpu's but I heard they are not easy to overclock. Also 750W is way more than you need for that sys. 500W should be enough or a bit more if you are planning on a high-end GFX card. Remember, make sure you choose a quality PSU seen as you are OCing.
