skunksmash Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 hi i have just orderd some new bits for my rig or a new rig mobo.... asus p5k premium cpu.... e2180 my current rig is fully operational but i think my 8800gt is being bottlnecked by it (3dmark06--8509) mobo...asrock 1333 r1- (crap for OCing) cpu......pentium D 925 @ 3750 ram ...3gb ddr2 pc5300 (cheap stuff) my question is which will perform better the pentium D which i will seriously overclock on the black pearl board and has 4mb cache or e2180 which i will also seriously overclock but only has 1mb cache but the bus speed will be alot higher is the cache that important in comparison to the overall bus speed...? kingdingeling Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 The E2180 will perform significantly better if OCed
Comp Dude2 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 the difference really between the processors is not bus speed or cache but arcitecture, Core2's are much more efficient (faster) than Pentium D's and that will make the difference.
