Andrewr05 Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) I'm in a DVD splurging mood this holiday (well actually for the past couple months and I'm having a hard time thinking of any good movies to buy. I know I know, that should be a sign that maybe I don't need to buy anything (save your damn money fool!) if I can't think of what to buy myself... The thing is I've seen so many damn movies throughout my life that its hard to remember what to look for (I know I'm skipping over some great movies, I have a horrible memory), as of right now I have ~25 movies (quite a few being box sets) in my Amazon.com cart and 48 sitting on my shelf (including box sets)... ~$600 worth of DVDs on my shelf (purchase price) $590 worth of DVDs in the cart... Now if you guys name your top 5 movies that would be awesome, maybe some of your choices will spark my memory? (movies only, no TV series) If you feel like naming more than 5 thats fine too, also I wouldn't mind getting some anime either but try to post 5 "non-anime" titles first... SMeeD Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 If I were only able to choose two: The Worlds Fastest Indian and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The Worlds Fastest Indian is a story about an older New Zealand guy setting a world speed record on an old 1922 indian motorcycle he fixed up in his garage... The other is a classic Jack Nicholson film where he fakes crazy to get out of a work camp and ends up befriending the guys in the ward. I know what that movie is now, at first I thought you were talking about an old indian movie... Anyways I love any movies to do with vehicles from the old Halicki movies to Bullit to Gone in 60 Seconds and even The Fast and The Furious movies... My favorite's are, We were soldiers, Men in Black, Full metal jacket, The green mile. All 4 of those are GREAT movies... I like westerns too, there have been quite a few good ones out... The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 3:10 To Yuma both not released yet but I plan on picking them up when they do. Also "The Man With No Name" trilogy is awesome too, thats in my Amazon cart... Edited December 26, 2007 by Andrewr05

suchuwato Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Hmm... If you like westerns, get 'Three Burials'... I still haven't seen 'The Assassination of Jesse James' due to limited release over here, but the cinematography is amazing, along with some fine performances from what I've heard, so I'll recommend it My favourite film I got on DVD this year has to be 'Primer' closely followed by 'Sunshine' and 'Requiem for a Dream' Maybe give me a genre and I'll list some stuff
