Corsair single rail psu any good?

Recommended Posts

My youngest son's power supply blew up yesterday afternoon (not sure of all damages as of yet). I want to get the Corsair single rail 550 watt psu and give him my old Enermax (450 watt). Does anyone have any first hand experience with them?

Thanks. :D

No first hand experence, but I <3 single rail PSUs :)

The other corsair PSUs seem to be rather well built in the pricerange and had these been around when I bought my Silverstone OP650 I certianly would have looked into them. I guess this might be the first of many upgrades for yourself :) You know about time to go dual core with 2GB :) Of course you wont be stressing it at all with what you currently have anyway so enjoy i suppose

I heard that the Corsair power supplies were based on the Silverstones... I could be mistaken... Oh yeah, the price range is very good compared to other high end power supplies that are availlable locally (Montreal).

I'm still dreaming of the day that I'll take the leap into the dual core pool... 4 sons and a wife with many needs... need I say more. :(

The Corsair power supplies are sourced from Seasonic or Channel Well - there was a review linked on our front page you might want to check out.

I hear ya ;) I have a high needs wife and a 2 year old and a 2month old. but dual cores are pretty cheap right now especially amd dual cores. I'm not sure what socket you have but you can get a amd 64x2 3800+ is only like 50 bucks new or the x2 4200+ for 50 bucks. just throwin that out there :P

Oh man that was good, I just about fell out of my chair with that one. Ahhhhh savor it for a moment... one more moment... and back to studying.

I don't want to pay more than $120 CDN and the 550 watt Corsair can be found for $110 in Montreal.

Seasonic, thanks for the correction. There was 1 retailer here in Montreal that carried them up to a few months ago but they were priced around 10 to 15% more than the Corsair psus. I heard good things about them.

I'd like to go Intel eventually and the proessors aren't priced that bad, but the prices of high end motherboards and decent ram here are still out of reach for me, I don't want to buy something I'll regret soon after.

There's always some kind of crisis that arises to help empty the bank account like one of my sons needing a $1300 root canal, that's a smack in the face just before Christmas...

110 Canadian is a neat price for the 550W Corsair ..... wait... alright, nevermind, exchange rates FTL :P

Anyways, the Corsair PSUs are great units, so I would definetly recommend them :) Silverfox has been raving about how his 520W is whisperquiet, so that's a plus as well :)
