HTPC for gaming?

Is there any reason not to make a combo unit (aside from not be able to play vids while gf is watching tv)? Been looking at HTPC builds a little, and seem like it would be fun, albeit pricey....

Thanks and sorry if in the wrong part of the forum.

Is there any reason not to make a gaming HTPC? There's two big reasons I can think of: heat and noise.

I think if you went with high performance heatsinks on the CPU and GPU, you could have a simple fan controller that switched the fans from 7V (HTPC mode) to 12V (Gaming mode)

that way you could have it silent for movies, and cooled for gaming (maybe with some audible fan noise, but meh who cares for gaming)
