skunksmash Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 hi i have just bought a.. MSI 8800GT 256MB G92 card arrives in two days time but i am currently running a pentium D 925 @3650.. i am wondering how urgent the need will be to get a C2D . specs are not great but still a dual core with 4mb cache ... is it not better to have great gfx card and a lower performing cpu than a great cpu and a lower performing gfx card........? thanks.. p.s. mobo.......asrock conroe 1333 i945GZ pci-e 1.0 (hopefully backwards compatible from 2.0 for 8800) thanks again
kingdingeling Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 The 8800GT will work just fine in the Asrock mobo. I wouldn't stick a C2D in a board like that, it'd get bored
romeo55 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Yeah, it would bottleneck you. But Is it warranted enough spending a whole $300? (I believe you have to get a new motherboard, as the 945s sorta had C2D support tacked on to it) It's really your decision. Here's a comparison. http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.htm...7&chart=
