Tirian-64 Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 ok... so i finally caved, and jumped on the C2D bandwagon. glad i did too anyway, as you can see in my sig, i have the eVGA 680i sli (SE) edition paired with an e6600 at the moment, im only at 2.8 Ghz but i know she has more. however, as this is my first intel oc, i still have my concerns. if im gathering my info correctly, the bus speed is the equivalent to HTT on the amd side, the higher the better but is the rated FSB like the HT link, we dont want it to go too far past is original setting? also wondering if anyone else has run into this peculiar, but not terminal issue when you have a certain bus speed, the processor multi drops to 6? if i go higher or lower it jumps back to nine, but certain intervals just will not run at 9 and revert to
road-runner Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I am not familiar with that MB nor AMD HTT. With Intel the higher the the FSB speed the better if you motherboard can handle it. The reason your multiplier is changing from 6 to 9 is called speed step, thats intels version of AMDs quiet and cool. You need to disable speed step in the bios. It will be called EIST and also disable C1E.
