get_saif Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 (edited) hello, i have this gaming mouse which works at 2000 dpi ( ERGO 525), its awsum. just faced minor problems with wheel, i am not here to tell u guys about the mouse, infact its related to mouse how windows xp crashes . i had not installed the latest driver of this mouse, as its a usb , it just works without any of the stuff. i finally decided and downloaded the latest version from genius website. after installation evrything it was fine. i restarted and played games etc...the usuals. but when i had hibernated my system, and turned it on , it refused to come back on desktop. i deleted the restoration and tried and guess WHAT? i got a blue dead screen. i was lucky to know this problem as that was the last thing i did on the os. but i could not CHKDSK also. VISTA is on my other partition. as i boot via that, it scanned c and saved the day. so what the hell, i removed the software and xp is pro again:). but what the hell is the problem here? what to do if i want this software running? is the driver wriiten with errors code's or xp pro has forgotten its a pro? comments will be realy appreciated with few solutions:) thank you! ClayMeow Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 does it crash when it's not in hibernation? Why are you hibernating to begin with?
get_saif Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 does it crash when it's not in hibernation? Why are you hibernating to begin with? it does not crash when its not in hibernation. i hibernated the last night, and switch it back in morning hence, i use hiberantion instead of shutdown! SAVES A LOT OF time:)
hardnrg Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 hibernation is not fully supported by all drivers and all hardware and is generally a bad idea... if power saving is your concern you can add power profiles with 1 minute countdown for monitor, harddrives, and system standby (I personally don't even like standby but at least it pretty much works for everything, unlike hibernation)... then enable the Taskbar icon in Power properties, and you can switch to "Sleepy Mode" or whatever you called your custom profile before you (and your computer lol) go to sleep

bigred Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 ahh the fun of not having all WHQL certified drivers. incase you didn't guess that IS one of many requirements to get the driver certified. system MUST hibernate and awaken correctly. ClayMeow Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Related question: Is "Sleep" mode in Vista its version of Hibernation? It seems pretty sweet...No perceivable difference between Sleep and actually shutdown save a blinking light on my tower indicating it's suspended. How much power is it using compared to a system that's shut down?
hardnrg Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 buy a Kill-A-Watt when they're on sale... they're probably like $9 over in the US anyway lol

get_saif Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 ok guys, after taking in consideration of using stand-by ,, I tried it,. the system goes to stand-by no issues. all system fans are off, even the smps fan is off. only the thing i see is light blinking in front of the case. But!!!!!!!! it does not come back on. i have to give a hard-boot . And i have heard, using stand-by kills ur hard-disk slowly? as it disconnects and connects power supply (or completely does not disconnect,i am not sure what it does? is this true.. need some light on this issue as well. thank you
