philbrown23 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hi I am new to this stuff and have bought a Cooler Master Aquagate S1. Is this a good water cooler? I read the reviews and they were OK I guess I just want to know if I overpaid. I paid 45.00 brand new on eBay.
Verran Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 First of all... Please don't post in all-caps. It's generally considered "yelling" and very rude. Second... Judging by your other thread, I wonder if it would be better to focus on learning the overclocking process first, and THEN moving on to extreme cooling. Third... Cheap water cooling is really just a waste. If you're not willing to spend $200+ dollars on water, it's probably not going to be worth it. Water systems that cost less than $200 usually get beaten by $50 air-coolers.
exeter_acres Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Or you can build your own system...but I have a feeling that may not be an option......
philbrown23 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Or you can build your own system...but I have a feeling that may not be an option...... I figured out my other problem the clip to reset my cmos was loose, actually almost out, and I just popped it back in and wallah it worked!!! But as for the water cooling I did research on what the system would cost retail and it retails for like 160 bucks I just got it really cheap on ebay. I willing to put the money into it I just licked out andgot it cheaper. No I'm not the best guy when it comes to modding, oc'ing, and cooling but I'm trying to learn and that's why a became a member here to help me with that. Everyone has got to start somewhere, right? exeter_acres Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Yep...you will do fine....... the system you bought is not top of the line, but it will work...... as an aside...looking at a review of your system... the temps were still 46 or 47c under load.... on my system, I have NEVER seen over 35c and it is Folding 24/7 and is overclocked quite nicely for an older system

exeter_acres Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 LOL!! You'll be OK.... We'll be gentle! OCing is a whole new world........
Puck Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Thanks, I've gotten alot of people on here kind of treating me like an idiot, which I'm not, I'm just new to oc'ing and modding Coincidentally, many of the first people to flame do not have too dazzling of a track record themselves. Hasn't happened in this thread, but it does happen often on many forums. These guys are good(for the most part ). Welcome to the site To be frank, that cooler is at best equal to a semi-decent air cooler. On the bright side, 45 bucks is a steal and you can either attempt to mod it for more performance, or just resell it and maybe make a profit. That purchase is nowhere near as bad as many "noobie" mistakes I have seen. Best thing to do is read, read, read. Tons of information floating around on the internet - some good, some best takin with a grain of salt. Also, it never hurts to ask if you have any questions or before you make a move. The only stupid question is the one that doesnt get asked

oblivescence Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Thanks, I've gotten alot of people on here kind of treating me like an idiot, which I'm not, I'm just new to oc'ing and modding You're not an idiot. Idiocy has to be proven, your too new to have proven that yet. True, your first 2 posts were not prime examples of perfect post-manship, but hey, everyones got to learn. Not all forums are the same. Just remember, no shouting, and please be specific in your questions and include details. Stick around long enough and you will be amazed how many times the first reply to a post is "what is in your rig" or "whats your budget" or "what are you wanting to do with this hardware ex. game, surf, photography etc" or "how much do you want to overclock, if at all?" There are other common questions, but I think you got the idea. This here is a pretty good community, lots of people willing to help, or laugh. They put up with me well enough. On Topic though: Umm.... I really can't think of anything constructive to add. I haven't had the oppurtunity to experiment with watercooling yet. First I need to get a compy worth water cooling. So, uh, good luck.

exeter_acres Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 use the system...and learn a bit...then decide if you want to keep going... don't bother "upgrading" that one... there are many better compenents out there and the 3/8" tubing will limit you quite a bit
