yiotta Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Thanks for all the advice I have received from you guys through the years.... I am leaving for Baghdad for a short time with the AirNatlGuard. So, for the first time I am going to use a webcam, hope to be able to communicate with my family. I am an officer and will have a place to plug in my laptop, not sure about the restrictions yet. Anyway, I purchased a webcam for the laptop that clips on the top of the screen. I haven't purchased one for the home PC yet. My wife is not terribly computer savvy, so I am looking for your suggestions on the best program to use to connect the webcams? I have Vista Ultimate on the Laptop and Vista Basic on the home PC. Suggestions would be appreciated, we will hookup some "dry runs" before I go to see how well it works. I will also want to record some video letters to friends and family that are secure for them only. I use webshots and photobucket, do you know if they have a secure video section as well? Thanks for the advice, I will wait to hear from you all. Roger L

ClayMeow Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 most of the instant messenger programs do a pretty good job at that stuff... You may already use services that offer this without even realizing it. eg. AIM
Makaveli Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Windows Live Messenger is a great program for that. I've used my webcam with it multiple times and it's easy enough for a 5 year old to figure out.
