OCC Reviews the LG DVD Burner GSA-H62N SATA vs GSA-H50N IDE

Recommended Posts

The only reason I have never bought a SATA CD/DVD drive yet, is that I heard they will not work or have problems being detected etc., I guess I will try SATA next time I buy one.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing. That's why I kept my IDE drive in addition to the new SATA drive :)

Detection may be a problem with older mobo's but the new ones pick it up great. I was very impressed I must say i heard the rumor too and whole heartedly expected problems when installing the new drive but did not have any and nero picked up the drive and the write media excellently. To be honest the only thing holding the drives back are read write speeds thats why there isn't a huge difference in performance if some time down the road we have the ability to have quicker read write times I am sure SATA will draw the line between itself and IDE more prominently. Thanks for the feedback on the review guys (I am justin desjardins by the way)
