NCC10281982B Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I noticed that if you want v6 to run smp you need the -smp flag.
kendellrt Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I noticed that if you want v6 to run smp you need the -smp flag. I read about that and I can't figure out quite how that works.

kendellrt Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Gee The blasted sleeping error keeps happening. I'm starting to hate myself for buying vista. I got it to run in Vista by setting it all up in safe mode under the admin account. That was the RC days, though. So, is it supposed to run like the normal service but turn units used by the SMP client? It said that you have to wait until your current WU is done to add the flag. I didn't add the flag in the reg, I put it in the entry in the services msc.
kingdingeling Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 the -smp flag is kinna annoying... I started a normal 500 point WU until I realized it was only using one core...
Judy_Dunbar Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 All boxes switched over to Ver.6 with the -smp flag, what a pain. I was able to switch to new client without losing any work done and while still in the middle of a WU, glad to as I would have lost 86% on one Box. I hate power outages. kendellrt Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 So you just install the regular client as a service and add the -smp flag to get smp units? I guess that gives higher points, but it is still not going to be as fast, right? I assume you need a client setup for each core. Judy_Dunbar Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I use Linux64/SMP client, I'm not ready to try the Windows/SMP client yet. I read the Windows client still has afew bugs.
