Waco Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 My venerable Chaintech VFN4-Ultra is finally breathing it's last breaths. It won't boot unless I set it to the stock FSB and boost the chipset vcore by .1 volts. It's been doing heavy-duty service in my main rig with a 50%+ overclock (311 fsb) for 3 years or so which is pretty good for a cheap board. It just randomly rebooted today and starting beeping at me. I have an Asus A8N-SLI on the way now...it's hard to find decent S939 boards these days. On another note, I'm happy to say my OC'ing has finally killed a piece of hardware. SMeeD Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Well you definitely got your money's worth Maybe you can get a higher clock out of your new board.
Waco Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Honestly I won't need it to go any higher. I ordered an Opteron 175 a couple days ago to replace my Opty 165 (which will move to my HTPC). With it's 11x multi I shouldn't need to run much over 270-280 fsb. I certainly got my money's worth considering I think I paid $80 for it new. EDIT: Hell, it won't even boot now. It just beeps.
