Status update: Nvidia or ATI

If by hurt you mean "perform negligibly worse" then yes, it will hurt. A ~10 fps difference does not justify a $100+ increase in cost. Check out this chart over at Tom's. In every game at the highest tested resolution, the 320 and 640 performed identically. The biggest split on there between the two is in BF2142 at 1920*1200 but even then it's only a 4 fps difference. Extra memory(for now) = moot.

 

Interesting. There was this though. I don't have a massive screen, but if people want to play at 1080p (1920x1080), extra memory is nice.

It would help if they updated that to the current drivers. That 8800GTS was tested with Nvidia Forceware 97.92 drivers which are obviously a bit dated. The game actually fares much better. Here's a review with Dark Messiah FPS results.
