Corsair RMA was good to me!

Recommended Posts

Back in May I had a socket A motherboard meltdown (I know... I'm old school  ), and then the memory that I had (Corsair twinx 512-3200c2pt, 2x 256 about 4 years old) went south of the border too. Seemed like Murphy came for a visit and didn't wanna leave. :angry2:

Well a couple of weeks ago I decided to see if I could send my 2 sticks of ram back to Corsair. Went through the channels on their forums, completed the online RMA request, got an RMA number and sent the 2 sticks to them around 2 weeks ago...

I got home from work today to find that UPS overnight express had just delivered a parcel of brand new twinx1024-3200c2. Corsair doesn't manufacture 256 sticks anymore (I don't know of any reputable memory manufacturers that still do besides Kingston, but I could be mistaken) so I guess it's my gain. :D

I know that it's not great ram but to get double of what I sent is a pretty good deal in my book. I'll be setting up another socket A board shortly and will put that ram to good use... might start folding again after not doing so for a quite a while... gotta get a kvm switch...

Just a good experience that I needed to share with you guys. :D

Let me know how it works!!! :thumbs-up: I know the pain you went through!

Yes indeed you do!

I tested the 2 sticks quickly in a 939 board and they booted up fine at 3, 3, 3, 8 timings which is normal according to Corsair (timings have to be set manually to 2, 3, 3, 6 in the bios). Anyways, as I mentionned before, they'll find a home in a socket A board sometime soon and i just wanted to see if they would work.

Schwag: I agree that manufacturers should live up to their commitments. I really wasn't expecting anything to come out of this but what they did for me was good business! :D

King, I'm looking forward to that, but can't say when...

It's situations like these that create return customers. :) If something like this happened to me, I'd certainly be more inclined to buy that particular brand in the future.

Hey mazak, what's you're avatar?

Thats Frank Zappa if i am right.

Yes that's a picture of him a few years before he passed away. I've been listening to his music since I was 14.

You probably don't know it but he was one of the most prominent musicians that was against sensorship of music. He spent a lot of time and his own money fighting for what he believed. I guess that a lot of the music that can be played on the radio today can be attributed to his efforts. I miss his witt. :(
