Just pre-ordered my PC limited edition copy from Gamestop. The U.S. gets a cheap Limited Edition/Collectors Edition package. EU gets everything we get but in a sexy embossed Steel box case.

My friend played the 360 demo and he loved it. I'm getting excited. The game got 3 10/10 scores which I don't think ever happened before. Can't wait to stick that Big Daddy figurine next to my monitor :D.

The game is released on PC and 360, next Tuesday. It's not a Vista exclusive, but it does have some Dx 10 in it, from what I heard.

I'm very excited about its possibilities, but I'm not entirely convinced yet. I'll be waiting for it to be out a while before I buy it. If the reviews are good, then I'm in. I'm really not in need of another FPS by any means, so I'll be waiting to see if the RPG aspect of it is what it seems to be.

On another note, as Silverfox said in another thread, it's entirely possible that this game will crush my current system. If so, it'll be a tough call. I'm really hoping my next build will skip straight to 45nm and maybe even 8900. Maybe I'll wait for other killer games like Spore and Assassin's Creed to upgrade, or maybe I'll crack and upgrade sooner :P

Well. Verran, I have a strong hope that this plays out a bit more like Deus Ex ... I feel it ... I really do ... it's very similar to what I remember of the original Deus Ex, though it is hard to tell without some playing. A variety of ways to complete tasks would be great :)

That's my hope as well. I don't want to come off too skeptical either, because so far the possibilities are looking VERY good. But you just never know. FPS's put me to sleep quickly, so I'm not interested there. But if the RPG aspect of BioShock is HALF of what the reviews are saying, then it should be great. So far, things are looking good for it.

Hehe Spore won't be out for a few years. I missed that game. Haven't heard of anything new about that game in a long long time. Either they are out of budget or super super secret.

Spore was supposed to be released right about now. It got pushed back a couple months ago (search it, I made a frowny-face post when I read about it :P). I think it's looking like earlier '08 now. Assassin's Creed was supposed to be out now too, but that suffered the same fate. I'm guessing it'll be early '08 as well. We'll see I guess.

Yeah, my 360 friends have all played the demo, and I'm so jealous. They're supposed to be releasing a PC Demo soon...I hope it's tonight/tomorrow so I'll have some weekend time to play it :(

I played the Xbox 360 demo and I've gotta admit, this game is SWEET. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous (I have never seen such water effects before), the storyline looks really interesting, and to top it off, the controls are very smooth and easy. Did I mention how pretty the game is? :P

I can easily imagine Bioshock putting some good gaming systems to shame, and my rig won't stand a chance. Fortunately, there are enough good games coming out in the next couple of months to justify upgrading my system ;)

If there's ever a game that can measure up to Deus Ex, I really don't know what I'd do with myself. I think I'd be so overcome with joy that I'd spontaneously combust. Whenever someone mentions mainstream or casual gamers, I think about Deus Ex and how far the industry has fallen. :( But there's a few games like Bioshock that give me some hope.

The Bioshock team employed some specialist dudes to do the water effects if I remember reading correctly

I knew I had read this somewhere too...

In an interview at E3 in May 2006, Levine revealed that "we've moved to Unreal Engine 3.0, we've done a lot of modifications on top of it," particularly to the way the engine handles water effects, which he claims will be very impressive, "We've hired a water programmer and water artist, just for this game, and they're kicking --- and you've never seen water like this."
