Brand new ASUS A7V266E won't light up

Recommended Posts

Am slapping a system together; have a XP2000 chip mounted on the A7V266E and connected via a GeForce3 card. I have unplugged all other hardware but when the power comes on for the very first time, no BIOS screen... not even video signal to the monitor! I exchanged the motherboard, tried different video card and monitor and still no joy! I have not enabled any DIP switch/jumper hardware setting on the motherboard- everything is default as per factory setting.

Is there anything I missed or that I am not doing right!!!? This is not the first time out with assembling a system but this is the first time I encounter such problem from the set go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hey,

Some new amd boards require the cpu fan(with rpm monitoring capability) to be plugged into a certain mb header.  If you are using a powerful fan plugged directly to the ps/ it may not boot(usually it boots and they yells at ya).

Just something else to try.  It could just be a bum board..

Hope not though..

Asus is very slow on m/b replacements.
