Laptop heat

Recommended Posts

Hey, I recentlly got a mac book pro and, while doing cpu/gpu intensive tasks, my CPU will hit 80, and so will the GPU... is this too hot or is it acceptable for a laptop?

I've actually read a bit on the heat issue with the MacBooks, it has to do with the thermal paste being applied very poorly from the factory. XS has a thread with several useful links in it. Read it all: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=151069

:withstupid:

That is essentially the problem. There was a guy over at Mac-Forums who disassembled his Macbook Pro, cleaned off the zealously applied factory paste, and properly applied some AS5. Temperatures literally dropped by 15 - 20 degrees. The guy's fan rarely turns on now.

If I didn't have my warranty to worry about, you can bet I would have popped open my Macbook as well. I'm rather disappointed in how Apple hasn't gotten its manufacturer to fix this issue, especially since it was found and acknowledged with the first generation of Macbook/Macbook Pro
