As you know that the painting has started and I didn't like the Candy Apple Red and so I paint all of the brackets and stuff on that order is now painted GM Metallic Red. I haven't tested the water cooling system as of yet. May get onto testing it later but until then here are some photos of the color change.

Today has been a lousy day for Switchboard. I could not get the leak to stop. I pulled everything that was with water cooling. There is nothing to cool off the processor at this time. I have a Ultra Fire for a heatsink but at this time I can't get the dang thing on. I'll have to pull the mobo tray out so that I can get the heatsink on tomorrow. I'm worn out, my back and neck are putting me down. I've taken my pain meds and I'm a 5-6 on the scale of 10. I thought I could do it but my main problem is the tubing. I'm using 3/8" ID and the pump and the Aquabay are 1/2" and 1 radiator has 1/2" barbs. The pump has 1/2" barbs and heating the tubing in hot water for a 1-2 minutes and it went onto the Fill-port with no problems, the Fill-port is 1/2" barb along with the pump. One radiator I'm using had both sizes of barbs, while the other was fixed with permanent 3/8" barbs. The reservoir was setup for 3/8" barbs and the water block for the processor was setup with 3/8" barbs. So what I'm going to do is get some 1/2" tubing and see if I can do some plumping with pvc or maybe copper cooling system. So we'll see how things go after a nights rest. Happy Modding to ya.

Today I pulled the mobo tray out of Switchboard. Then I had to remove the mobo from the tray because my heatsink requires it because of the mounting bracket has to go on so that I can attach the heatsink by way of the 4 holes that are beside the processor. This heatsink was Thermatake best heatsink 4-5yrs ago and it must weight at least 550 grams. It is solid copper and it needs the X bracket on the back or it would pull the processor and the socket off the broad if it wasn't secured to the big X. Here is a couple of photos of the heatsink.

This heatsink can use almost any fan up to 92mm. It comes with several different sizes of the tension wire for fans. The setup that's on there now is for the 92mm fans. I have a Thermatake Volcano 11 with the speed adjustment. So I took the fan off of it and put it on the heavyweight. Here are some photos of the Volcano 11.

While I was working on the cpu and making sure that it was going to be cooling with the best unit that I have. I thought that maybe I should replace the original heatsink and fan of the northbridge chipset. So I pulled the heatsink off and took a photo while all heatsinks were off.

I also have a heatsink that I made and mounted it to the power mosfets that get so blasted hot during use of the pc. So I put on everything that I could think of that needed to be cooled. Here are some more photos showing how things look while installed.

So that is what I did today. Now to make sure all wiring is correct and hopefully it will take right off when I push that power button. So until the next time, all ideas and comments are welcomed. Happy Modding to ya.

I put a few things together yesterday which in all practicality Switchboard should run. So this morning I put on a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Plugged everything together and hit the power button. On it came and here are a few photos of it monitor screen. They are not the brightest but you can see what is on the screen.

The last photo is of the HDD cage probe and I was pleased to see it up and running. My fan controller was running but I didn't take the time to correct that problem. I have a lot on my plate today with building 2 computers. One for my mother and the other for my next door neighbor. His parts came in this morning. So remember that all ideas and comments are welcomed and Happy Modding to ya.

Another short update. I removed everything that was part of the water cooling setup which included the Aquabay. That left the large opening between everything else. So to cover the opening I have installed this. Hope your happy with it. I think it should do quite nicely. The frame isn't finished as of yet but that's no problem. So here are the 2 photos.

kewl, cant we get some pics of the whole machine?

Yes sir, I'll get some photos tomorrow of a full frontal shot with it on. Just a short note to let you know about my temps in Switchboard. Before the big change I was running at about 46-49C. and now it's running steady at 35C, so it's a good 11-14 C. difference for it. So my rerouting the power supply so that it blew the heat out the duct work on the door and the addition of 3 more fans. At least my temps are down to a respectable temp. So until the next update, Happy Modding to ya.

Here is the unit running as of this morning which I found it had a problem this morning. The top left LED screen was glowing with no numbers like it should being doing. That is my temp probe for my HDD cage. So now I have to pull it out and open it up to see what the problem is. So until then here is the photo that I promised. Happy Modding to ya.

very nice

sucks about the temp probe though. gl in fixing it.

Well, today I have some good news. The HDD temperature probe that's in the HDD cage is now posting some temperatures and I have the photos to prove what I' saying. I'm happy about it working again. Here is a photo to show it working.

Not bad temps either if I may say so. I did add a fan to blow over both HDD's. I worked hard thinking about where and how I was getting the heat inside the case of Switchboard. It has proved beyond a shadow of doubt that I've dropped my temperatures inside of Switchboard. So until the next posting remember that all ideas and comments are welcomed and Happy Modding to ya.

Tonight I made a decision to put my memory card reader back into Switchboard. Maybe some will remember that I had one and it was in the place where the fan controller is now. So it will be put along side the temp readout for my HDD cage. The probe for the read out is between the two drives. There is a space large enough for another drive between the two in there and the probe is in between without touching either of the drives. So I'll move the read out closer to the 7" screen and the power button will be relocated. Here are a couple of photos showing the reader and the location area.
