Ziggy54354 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I know everyone says its not important that a heatsink base be shiny but is it normal for it not be shiny at all after lapping with 2000+ grit? i started at 220 and moved my way up. Strangely after lapping with 220 it was shinier than lapping with any other grit... I've lapped before and this has never happened to me. Weird.. anyone else ever see this? hardnrg Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 maybe you moved up too fast?
NoSnipeLimit Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 What happens sometimes when lapping the particles get caught up and form a finer grids without you realizing it, happens mostly when you lap with water. You should see some residue on the paper, and sometimes it will even have a bit of a shine
graysky Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 The shine is actually irrelevant. How flat is the base of the HS and how did it affect your temps?
