weird lapping results

Recommended Posts

I know everyone says its not important that a heatsink base be shiny but is it normal for it not be shiny at all after lapping with 2000+ grit? i started at 220 and moved my way up. Strangely after lapping with 220 it was shinier than lapping with any other grit... I've lapped before and this has never happened to me. Weird.. anyone else ever see this?

What happens sometimes when lapping the particles get

caught up and form a finer grids without you realizing it,

happens mostly when you lap with water. You should see

some residue on the paper, and sometimes it will even

have a bit of a shine
