MesaRecCrew Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) I am planning on doing some serious digital recording with the computer that im trying to build. My initial thought was that I would build a very fast computer that I can do everthing with... Like record music (via presonus firewire digital audio workface), play maybe a few games, surf the internet, and use my 32" hdtv as my monitor... I am planning on buying intels C2Duo E3400 and a evga motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813188014 I am planning on keeping it cool with the tuniq tower and or the thermalright ultra 120 Im undecided on which to chose between these three video cards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102075 -SAPPHIRE 100196L Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102071 -SAPPHIRE 100171L Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X HDCP V/C or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...82E16814131027- POWERCOLOR X1950 PRO Extreme 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Extreme Edition w pc cooling Seagate baracuda for the hard drive and GSKILL for the memory and of course one of the overclockers club approved power supplies all in a nzxt APOLLO case that has two 120 mm fans. Thats what I have planned and I am just waiting on making my purchase off of newegg until I hear from you guys what I should go with! Sorry for the long post but you help is so helpful i wish that I could repay you guys. I am mainly building this pc for recording so finding out information like get a quite motherboard is SSOO helpfuLL!!! GrandTheft Llama Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) Why are you even considering getting an ATI card when that mobo has an NVIDIA nForce chipset that just doesn't seem like a very good combo there plus one of them is AGP dont wanna make the mistake of buying the wrong kind of card eh, and you should consider getting an E6600 instead of that E4300 or if you dont have the budget to get an E6600 then I suggest you get the E6320 then. bigred Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 in it's price range that ATI card is vastly superior to any and all nvidia cards. and yes you do need a PCI-Express video card to go with that motherboard
GameGuru1 Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 Why are you even considering getting an ATI card when that mobo has an NVIDIA nForce chipset that just doesn't seem like a very good combo There's nothing wrong with pairing an ATI card with an nVidia chipset. I did that with the Athlon rig in my signature and have experienced no instability, and my benchmarks are in line with similar configurations with matching chipsets. GrandTheft Llama Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) I didn't say they were incompatible because i don't know if they are, he should reconsider his mobo choice thats all. BoyBandsMustDie Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 if your looking to spend around 150 and want an ATI card, may I suggest Saphire x1950xt 256mb - Link to newegg I have it and it's great, although....... it will run VERY hot. bigred Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 yes and ATI chipset does work BEST with an ATI card. but we're talking about a 1-2% gain. however that is seriously offset by the price to performane ratios here.
