steve burnell Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 might be a dirty laser in the x-box, or it may have been banged about?

intel_inside Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 i had the same problem with a ps2 once...i got a cleaning disk and that helped...then about a month later the thing quit altogether...instead of sayin disk read error it says data read error and nothing will work no matter how many times you try it... andrusk Posted April 12, 2003 Posted April 12, 2003 i dont know if id try that alcohol thing unless you wanna crack open your xbox and void your warranty(how would you get to the lens without opening the box?) , just use the laser lens cleaning disk, that should work fine for you. i had the same problem with a ps2 once...i got a cleaning disk and that helped...then about a month later the thing quit altogether...instead of sayin disk read error it says data read error and nothing will work no matter how many times you try it... This is a very common problem with ps2s, when i worked at gamestop about one in every 8 or so ps2s came back defective and almost all of them quit within a year and a half of operation. Pooh sony, very pooh(in regards to ps2, everything else is great!)
