Hukka Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Well, Im 95% sure its my video card.. Because if i dont have a nice house fan blowing into my case (makes everything else really nice and cool, i mean my mobo is at 21C and cpu is at 23C) my computer just glitches(my screen will just go black sometimes-especially when playing a game, and when i boot up windows theres blue, or green, where there shouldnt be), my video card isnt over clocked at all, but its running really hot.. When i touch the ram, its extremely hot, but when i turn the computer off, and touch the back side of the core, its not even hot, nor is the heat sink.. Is this uncommon? I have the palit gf4 ti4200 128megs.. If so, do you guys know any good cooling? especially for ram, ive looked around.. but im not sure whats the best.. Any help would be great, thanks Hukka
exeter_acres Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 Your card may not be Oc'd, but is your CPU? Did you up your FSB? without locking the Mhz to the vid card?? That would send the card out of spec? Just a thought
Hukka Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Nope, nothing in the computer is OC'd im not really sure what it is, the fan is this dinky little thing.. and my card is fairly warm to the touch, not burning.. but warm i dont know what it could be ;/ when i play shadowbane the graphics are just totally messed up, and same with a lot of other 3d programs
justinal Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 i know this has nothing to do with the subject but you have a watercooled computer thats not oc. sounds like you need to hook the watercooling up to the vc i heard dangerdan maaakes some good applications for that. But hey, itll last me.. right? i just sure hope its the problem of heating
robbie Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 I"m working on a review of a GF4 cooler that I got. I'll have to give you a link when I'm done. Seems to be WELL worth the $20 I spent for it too. I have a PNY GF4 ti4400. Not overclocked but runs ALOT cooler now. And yes the kit came with ram syncs and they get pretty warm. exeter_acres Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 My .02... If you are not overclocking, then the issue has nothing to do with heat... We all have fun fighting the heat battle, but in reality it is not the cause of many problems.... The issue you are describing sounds like a driver issue more than anything.. reinstalled latest? re-installed DX?? I highly doubt the problem is heat.. But an H2O system WOULD be fun!! Hukka Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 (edited) Well, I, i reinsalled DX.. and well, that actually did seem to fix it I mean im not getting any more glitches or anything.. But I think im totally disregard that its fixed, and ask that you remove your last post, because I still want an excuse to get this chipset cooler.. I mean I guess i can put out some extra money if my computer NEEDS it, right? Thanks for the help Hukka ______________________________________ well, I updated the drivers and that did help -- for the time being But i really do think its a heating problem, because when i turn my computer off for the night, then start it back up, all the glitches are gone for about 30min then if i restart again, it just seems to bairly make it.. but if i have a huge house fan on it.. I dont know, the card isnt extremely hot but thats what i think it is Robbie, maybe you can tell me where you got the cooler so i can get it for mine, thanks Hukka Edited April 12, 2003 by Hukka
