Byrner Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 I just went and bought a dremel. now i have to have a window kit.......hope i have money left on my credit card for that..... What do yal think, since i have little money left. plain window kit or top window kit with blow hole. also what is active and passive (pertaining to cooling fans)? oh my gee golly gosh i just cant wait for my computer parts to get here (thurs-fri) supposedly
d3bruts1d Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Save the money... don't get a kit. Spend $5.00 and get a sheet of plexi, and do a top window and side window. As far as active vs passive... Active = Fan Blowing Passive = No Fan (Most Zalman Products)
Byrner Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 i was referring more to the thermal take fans.....think it was a fan, and not a heatsink.....active pfc or something?
General912 Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Well the windows in those kits are acrylic not plexi glass. acrylic dosent scratch as easy. plus the kits are only $20 you get molding too if you want to used it.

PsykoHatchet Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Yep, you can get a sheet of Plexi/Acrylic at your local Home Depot/Lowes. Don't know about cutting it with the dremel tho, i think they have a tendancy to melt plastic. But im sure you could do it somehow without melting it. General912 Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 Three words, Water Jet Cutter. Super clean cuts anything even Titanium! I wish my dad had one they are very expensive(Millions of $!) . its cheeper just to go with laser.
Trakfast11 Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 lol, dang!... yeah i guess you might want to stick the the pre fitted window if the dremel can't be used to cut it. What methods have other people used to custom cut their windows, without having to pay a lot for extra cutting materials? Byrner Posted April 10, 2003 Posted April 10, 2003 buy a 5 dollar dremel with 500rpm? lol
Bassdude1000 Posted April 14, 2003 Posted April 14, 2003 im not sure, but i think ive read howtos around the net that talk about scratching the plexi with an exacto knife a bunch and then just breaking it off... would work it you want to do a simple square or "stop sign" something (cant think of the word). butif you get a square cut plexi, you can cut the case to the design you want, then just vae a big peice of plexi under it that overlaps.
