andrusk Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 My aunt just forwarded this to me(which i hate, i hate it when people forward stuff that isnt even for you specically), anyway I think this is bogus just like everything else like this but, i figured, heck why not pass on untrue rumors, its funny. Take a look! The US Navy today announced that it has released a senior Al Quida terrorist after questioning him extensively for 27 days while he was held prisoner aboard a US aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea. In a humanitarian gesture the terrorist was given $50 US and a white Ford Fairlane automobile upon being released from custody. The attached photo shows the terrorist on his way home just after being released by the Navy. IMPORTANT NOTICE Email from OOCL is confidential and may be legally privileged. VolcomPimp Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 LOL!!! Definitly fake, but thats a good one... I wonder if there was a plane there that was edited out of if they just had to add the car....

sVperbeast2k5 Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 LOL The story's definatly fake, but the car? Who know's... I'm sure someone has tried that before!
andrusk Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 actually ive tried it once before.. all you have to do is line the inside of the car with life jackets and it floats as soon as it hits the water!
sykocus Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 actually it may be real... in the navy when a pilot retires they put his boots on the catapult and launch them off the ship. I have heard of a guy who had an old beat car of his when he retired. i'm sure it's been done more then once.
RVE Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 They might use a dummy car or something to test the catapult after repairs or replacing parts. Better to test it on a car than a multi-million dollar aircraft. That pic is pretty sweet though! B)
hiph0pan0nym0usx Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 (edited) very funny tthat picture looks very very fake. first of all the car looks like its floating at almost the same level as the boat, which is impossible becuase it wouldnt float in the air like in the movies. second, i doubt that car can go that fast as to leave all that smoke behind or to launch it that far away from the boat. actually taking another look at it i see how its lined up on the "launch thingy" so i guess they could have rigged it to throw the car off. andrusk Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 if im not mistaken the catapults on are craft carriers are powered by steam, so its not smoke from the car its the steam from the catapult, heres a link. Also i think if those things could throw an airplane from 0-160mph in two seconds, then it would probably throw the car a lot further off the deck than that. Just my 2 cents

Just my 2 cents well true...but an A/C created aerodynamic lift...while the opposite is true for a car...it's designed to create downforce...
