DimensioN Posted April 5, 2003 Posted April 5, 2003 sorry for asking, but what does the Q-fan technologie means?
Tony_Toughnuts Posted April 5, 2003 Posted April 5, 2003 adjusts the speed of fan according to temperature
DimensioN Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 well , isn't that onboard. so you could install all HSF's you want.. or not? i would just install a slk900 with 92mm tornado fan.

mxrider623 Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 The Volacano 9 comes with a thermal probe and you can put it on an automatic setting so yes it will work. you have to use the one that comes with the V9 you just have to like move a jumper on the V9. Tony_Toughnuts Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 ive had trouble with that and its not as accurate as the temperature sensor inside the actual cpu
andrusk Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 i use the a7n8x with a volcano 9 and from my experience if you want to use the qfan technology your gonna have to not hook any of the smart fan technologies onto the volcano 9, which means you cant use the thermal sensor or the rheostat or the jumper that makes it full speed all the time, just unhook it all and the qfan will do the rest. i however do not like any of the thermal sensor fan control technologies, i just dont trust them enough(but if i were to trust one it would be the qfan not the smart fan because the qfan uses the actuall cpu temp not just the cpu ceramic temp), i would recommend using the rheostat that came with the volcano 9 and adjust it to a good speed that will keep your cpu nice and cool. just in case you wanted to know, I leave my fan on at around 3,500 rpm all the time. Hope this helps a little bit.
Tony_Toughnuts Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 (edited) actually that was perfect but how do i take off all the extras so i can use the q-fan? does that mean i have to rip the fan apart and take it all out or is it a simple jumper setting on the fan? thanks Edited April 6, 2003 by Tony_Toughnuts
andrusk Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 no you dont have to rip the fan apart silly.... just dont hook up any of the accessories that cam with the fan up to the fan, make sure the jumper is removed, make sure the rheostat is not plugged in, and make sure the thermal sensor is not plugged in. Bacically make sure the only conneciton comming from the fan is the power plug connecting to the cpu fan connection on the mobo. hope that helps
exeter_acres Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 comming from the fan is the power plug connecting to the cpu fan connection on the mobo Don't know about the ASUS issue, but this above statement doesn't work for a V9... it is not powered from the mobo, too much power, it is actually powered by a molex adapter and then it has a RPM monitor cable that plugs in to the mobo.... Hope it works out
andrusk Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 Actually it is powered from the mobo and it does work for the v9, i do not use the molex adapter that came with the v9, i just plug my v9 directly into the motherboard and my v9 has ran perfectly from day one. Dont know what your talking about.
