Hi all!

I'm gonna be upgrading my cpu, mobo, and ram soon and by the looks of things on here I'm clearly gonna go with core2duo.

What I want to know is, how does windows use the two cores? For example if one program was using 100% of my cpu (1 core) would windows automatically put other programs onto the other core? Is this kinda thing even possible? Or is it just SMP enabled apps like photoshop that take advantage of the 2 cores?

This applies mainly for Vista, but would be useful for XP aswell!

Cheers!

Programs/tasks will be split up as needed automatically. SMP support in apps is only necessary for that particular application to utilize multiple cores/processors.

EDIT: This applies to both Vista and XP.
