iKillSteal Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) I was browsing the forums today for the first time in a while(Curse Morrowind!) and I looked over all the new posts about core 2's and AM2's and I thought about all those poor old processors that are just being left behind. Well I fired up my ubuntu box(see sig for specs) and I was wondering if I could breathe some life into it in the form of an overclock. Well as you can see, I got a nice 150mhz overclock on it with passive cooling and I was pretty happy about that. Didn't really show a performance boost of any kind in anything but it was still fun to see how far it would go. Anyway, I know that we've got topics for OC'ing 775's and 939's but how about a competition to see how far you can push that old socket 7(or anything that's old) cpu of yours? I personally think this would be pretty fun if it picked up momentum. Just imagine 3 months from now having *Insert one of the faces of OCC here* brag about how his/her k6 hit 1ghz on water! hardnrg Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 (edited) i got sucky cpu's that wouldn't oc, even on proven overclocking motherboards PI-200 (lol... no ocing on the bizarre Iwill mobo) PIII-800 (8x100 stock), Abit BE6-II v2.0 (Intel 440BX), PC100 --> final stable OC = 8x109=872 MHz (9% oc lol), could've been the PC100 ram though dividers didn't help XP2500 (11x166, 1826 stock), MSI K7N2 Delta-L (NForce2 Ultra 400), PC3200 --> final stable OC = 11x192=2112 (15.7% oc lol) then it all changed with socket 939 and i found my calling... or something... sYstEmATiC Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 i dont have proof but i got a socket 370 celeron 533mhz to i think 880mhz with the fsb being at 110mhz up from the stock 66mhz. thats a 60% oc lol. it was on an asus cusl2-c motherboard with pc150 ram. LMAO what's with the sudden resurgance in Retro Technology around the forum(s) lately? The fastest I ever pushed a (naked) K62-500 processor was 600Mhz *on air* @ 2.4v (stable), I understand the K63+ versions could do that easily, are you just going to use superPI to compare OC'ed Retro's or adopt some additional testing suites ie.
