Rock N Roll Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Hello! I have just build my 1:st Computer and it was fun and giving I have been reading here to see if i can find som info how to do it all right and found somethings that helped me out Now to the problem: I have a AMD 2400+, Gigabyte GA-7VAXP, Samsung 512 PC2700. When i run SiSoft Sandra it says that the memory Bandwidth is 1870mb/s so when i compare it to others it would be like a PC2100 and that sux...so what can be wrong? A VIA KT333 with a PC2700 CL2.5 Memory Bandwidht is 2090+ so... The other thing that I think could be the problem is that my FSB is running at 133mhz and my Multipiler is set to auto. I have tried runing it at 166mhz but i refuses to boot up...only a black screen and the monitor is standing at "stand-by" mode. So is there a way to get it runing at 166mhz because I think it should work right? I have tried going throug the multipiler step by step and trying them all on 166mhz but the result is still a black screen that is on Stand-by mode. The only thing that worked was 100mhz and Multipiler on 12.5x or 133mhz and Multipiler on Auto. The manual for the Motherboard sux..but thats my opinion =) Hope you guys can help me out! ::Joakim::
Propane Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 have you OCd your computer yet because you might of lowered your fsb and raised your multiplier therefore makeing your ram run at a different bus speed
Rock N Roll Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I just want it to work without OC and when it works then I will OC...

cptkook Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 well, according to your manual, go into the Frequency/Voltage control section of the bios and change the DRAM Clock (mhz) from 'auto' to 166(ddr333) and that should put your memory at the correct speed... Rock N Roll Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 I already have it on 166/333 I have the latest Bios (F11) installed. One other thing that dont work is when im in bios and push "Top Performance" and save...it refuses to boot up..it just locks and nothing happens....that issue should be solved in Bios Ver. F9 i think so...it sux. If i want to OC i have to put DDR to 200/400 or it also refuses to start up..i can OC to about 140...over that some games such as BF shuts down Anybody who has tested their PC2700 with SiSoft Sandra and checked their Bandwidht? Mine is nomatter what i do about 1900mb/s. And compared to a KT333 PC 2700 that goes on 2050mb/s i think it was. All this crap just suxx..I have almost given up..but just almost..im not a quitter...never has been so... I can just say that from what i have been reading before i baught my Gigabyte mobo I can only say this: Im VERY dissapointed and will never by a Gigabyte product again. Or maybe its just me that is stupid? Well..im gonna take a PIC on my modded darling here and put it up so you can se my first "build your own computer". I have 3 Thermaltake fans in it, 2 blows out 1 blows in. 2 green CCFL Cold Cathode and a Red EL-Cable. I have removed the fan on the door and putted a coolmod from Thermaltake there... A couple of nice silver round IDE cables.
rave Posted May 19, 2003 Posted May 19, 2003 if u still haven't sorted that out, ur comp won't boot when the jumper setting on in bios on ur gigabyte motherboard is set on 166mhz while ur 2400+ cpu is locked at 133mhz get it? u have to increase ur cpu from 133 to 166. but u can't do this without craping up ur cpu unless u have to physically alter the cpu to unlock the multiplier. once u do that assuming ur not goin to OC, u can alter the jumper settings on ck ratio and set it to 12X. default is like 15x ( 15 x 133 = 2 gig) at multiplier is set at 12x, change also the speed of motherboard like u did b4 to 166mhz so that now ur cpu is running at same speed as motherboard - 166mhz. 12 x 166 is roughly 2gigs as b4 but ur cpu is now running with fsb of 333 rather than the stock standard of 266mhz. So u have improved the performance in theory by almost20% all without raising voltage and greating more heat! u shud now c a improvement in ur board and ram performance and may i say it is very stable.
