ClayMeow Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I found this email amusing to say the least: It's almost as stupid as the Mac vs. PC commercial where the "fake" Mac guy bashes Macs by finally telling the truth.
nan0click Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Its flat out false advertising, if something is so old it wont work with Vista (which has a hell of a lot more drivers pre-installed than XP) then it probably won't work with OS X either. And it says you have to buy a new computer to go to Vista, but what exactly are you buying if you go to Mac? A new, light up desk ornament? ClayMeow Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Yeah, here's the link the email points to. Look at the top 2 reasons to get a mac; "no upgrade nightmares" (lol, yeah, okay ), and "you can even run Windows" ().
Makaveli Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 That's probably the weakest advertising attempt I've seen in a while. "Hey, before you get something cool, try looking at these POSs!"
Verran Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I guess I don't see what's so "weak" about it. I mean to clarify, I'm not an Apple fanboy. I don't have any Apple stuff (even an iPod) and I have no intention of buying any anytime soon. But I do think they make a valid point. Vista is bloated beyond anything the market has seen so far. It requires substantially more in the way of hardware than any other OS I know of. Sure, here on an enthusiast site the requirements might look like childsplay, but to "regular" computing folk that aren't necessarily gamers, the requirements are rather steep. Beyond that, what does Vista really offer to a "regular" user? (I'm talking someone who checks emails and does minimal surfing.) As far as I can see, it offers very little. Sure it's got flashy windows and such, but as far as actual major improvements, I just don't see the benefit for the average user. I think Apple's point is that their OS can do most everything Vista can, but using substantially less hardware.

Kash Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I LOVE my Mac FAR better than Vista in terms of usability. Can't wait to see the next iteration of Mac OS X (Leopard)
cold_snipe Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I was a windows/linux fanboy for quite a while now, bashing apple at every second chance I got. While I agree with you Clay that these commercials are laughable, I have been changing, and now a mac doesn't look so bad anymore... for what I usually use my computer for, that is. Meh, I dunno. Vasto Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Its flat out false advertising, if something is so old it wont work with Vista (which has a hell of a lot more drivers pre-installed than XP) then it probably won't work with OS X either. And it says you have to buy a new computer to go to Vista, but what exactly are you buying if you go to Mac? A new, light up desk ornament? I think you missed the point. The email is saying that because you will probably need a new computer, you should consider getting a mac. And apple has great support for drivers. Also, when you buy a mac, you buy something that is not only visually appealing (last night there was an article on digg where someone compared the boxes of a mac and PC. Although I know this isn't important, apple cares a lot about how their products look.), but also something with a very easy OS. If you haven't used OSX yet, I highly suggest it. steve adams Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I just sold my apple never to own one again. Am I the only one who does not like OSX? I think its crap. Windows xp for me for a long time yet....considering vista is just Xp with a few bells and wistles. NOT the great new OS we were hoping for. I am getting a new core 2 duo notebook for my photography. apature is awsome program, but print shop pro photo does pretty well everything apature does, just as easy. and for the price of a normal mac book, im getting a killer XP based notebook with ALOT more horsepower than the macbook. Andrewr05 Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Anyone seen the new anti-VISTA MAC commercials? They pretty funny besides being childish, as usual...
