TimeMachine Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Alright guys I am preparing a argument speech for my communications class. I am debating against one of my classmates Problem: There are too many students from different cities attending Temple City schools Cause: Because there is not enough living space available, Temple City is full students from different cities around Goals: To be able to have enough living space for the students Since there are so many students and so little land, future developers and landowners should start to build multi-story or multi-unit houses. Since 2003 more and more students started to come into Temple City School District. Even thought there is not enough room for the students, people cheat the city and is able to attend Temple City Schools. Having more houses would increase the room capacity and allow students to come in rather than cheating the City. To enforce the policy, Temple City should not allow School permits to students who live in other cities. My question is... What can you attack? I want to know so I can prepare and know whats up ahead. thanks guys! -bee
swifty11212 Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 One thing, why should the school not give permits to students from other cities? How is it cheating the city and in what ways? Financially, or what, be more specific.

They dont live at the house and they jus pay the owner money to use the address so they can apply to the school. The school in my city fits about 2000 students and theres about 1500 students attending the school as we speaking. Since space is limited.. theres 500 spaces unused due to lack of living space. My school is currently in the 10 top ranked schools in California.

Also, maybe something like, "If we were to experience a rapid growth in population, it could make jobs for teens harder to find." Just a few quick ideas that came to mind. Another thought, maybe you could suggest increasing the district range, instead of looking for ways to cramp more people into the city. TimeMachine Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Well Lee , the surrounding cities contain many apartment complexes because education is like the most important aspect of the area. The reason why our tiny little 2 bed room houses cost 900k is because of the education. Many families who arnt able to afford the high rent and location "cheat" the system. Temple City is a really tiny city.so if we build "up" theres more room and space is used much more efficent. Although i like the fact i have 5bed rooms and 3 baths, I still believe that building higher results more room.
