DECwakeboarder Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Hey all...I've finally decided on my college of choice for next year (Southern IL @ Edwardsville) and have been looking at studying abroad later. They offer programs at Lancaster Uni, Sheffield Hallam Uni, and U of Northumbria in Newcastle. I was wondering if anyone of my English friends here could give me a litte insight into what you all know about any of these Unis. The last two would probably be preffered, as they offer a more specialized program for my major (Business Administration) but either of the three would be fine with me. Silverfox Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 all i can say is that for a degree in the UK, i personally would aim for a "redbrick" university. to the best of my knowledge, none of those are, but, you said they specialise. i am lectured by staff from Lancaster Uni and they are very good. Corporate Strategy and taxation for example. as for the cities, well, sheffield is nicer than newcastle in my opinion but i have never resided in either. lancaster is close to where hardnrg and i live (Liverpool) and is quite bustling and is close to manchester. sheffield is also very close to manchester (considering) with a little transport. are there any other universities that have programs here? or are these the only ones offering? It seems to be a good school, and maybe down the road I could work something out with my college here or just transfer over. hardnrg Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 i went to UMIST (University of Manchester: Institute of Science and Technology) and it is THE most awesome place to go to university... the biggest student population in Europe with 3 major universities and several others... something like 250,000 students... lots of stuff to do... the 2nd biggest city in England... way better than London Manchester is just incredible in so many ways... the music scene there is great... there are SO many clubs, concerts, pubs, bars, open-air gigs in parks, streets, ampitheatres... man it's mental... in a good way i'm seriously thinking about returning to Manchester after i finish (or fail, lol) my masters in Liverpool...
