I still find it funny how laptops can sport a very good cpu but have a crummy gpu unless you pay for one that is utterly expensive. But in seriousness, Why would I want a "gaming" laptop that has a C2D but something on par with a 6600gt and isn't cheap to start out with. Laptops= meh One word = Power nVidia and ATI haven't exactly followed in the footsteps of Intel and AMD with cooler running processors. If you look at the performance trend, GPUs have been needing more and more power whereas CPUs have been using less. Hopefully you can draw the conclusion that power-hungry components are bad for laptops. I'm sure nVidia could make a mobile 8800, but would you really be willing to buy the laptop if it only had 30 minutes of power? Graphics companies literally have to retool their GPUs to make their mobile versions consume less power, which is why they seem to be underpowered or a generation or two behind. Hopefully, with the acquisition of ATI by AMD, we'll start to see graphics cards that don't need their own power supplies. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
