DrAwesomePhD Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 (edited) Hi, I got a 320gb harddrive for christmas. I asked for a 300gb, because i already have a 300gb and would like to set up a raid 5 array. However, i got a 320gb. Is it possible to still set up a raid 5 array with different sizes of harddrives? I'd guess its possible but i'd just throw away those 20gb, but can anyone confirm/deny this for me? And yes, i do plan on getting more than just 2 harddrives for the array I just want to know what more i need to buy to get it to work as intended. Thanks Edited January 28, 2007 by DrAwesomePhD
caffeinejunkie Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Well Im not 100% positive and google gave me mixed results but I think it should work with the other 20gb being lost.
bishop245 Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 for raid 5 you need 3 drives minumum and in all raid setup beside jbod you will loss the extra 20 gigs off the
