Cas 2 Vs. Cas 2.5

Recommended Posts

Ok i want to get a stick of 512 Geil PC2700 DDR and there is an ultra and a regular version. The regular has CAS 2.5 and the ultra has CAS 2. Now the regular is about $70 while the ultra is about $125. Is it worth the extra 50 bucks? because I could just sell my 2400+ and buy a 2600+ for about the same price. I will be overclocking so I know its better to have CAS 2 but I'm just not convinced that it is worth all that money.

nah u dont need to get a 2600+ instead of 2400+ the 2400+ is fine and very OCable, but i think u rather buy a GeIL 512mb pc 3200 (cas2) it costs about 105$,

there is no difference in OC terms between CAS2 and 2.5, just performance but take to concidiration that as much as you increase the DDR frequency it will be harder to get CAS2 to work, higher frequencies = lowe CAS, thats why it is rair to find pc 3700 or 3500CAS 2 only 2.5,

id say get a GeIL 512mb pc 3200

check for price in pricewatch.com

ya I think im gonna get the 3200. I think I understand what you are saying the 3200 will be better because the 3200 is 400MHz and it will not be under as much stress when I OC because I will not be able to get my FSB up that high right?
