Comp Dude2 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) Which do you guys think is better and which would you recomend getting, the X1950Pro or the X1900XT (finally feeling a bit more generous lol) Basically i need that card to last as long as possible before i need to think about upgrading. I was thinking maybe about this card http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo...roductID=335772 or this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo...roductID=481911. Also which do you think would be the better overclocker because i would be prepared to push them a bit further than stock (just no water or roaring fans) Hmm, just looked on a different site and found the X1950XT. I assume that would be better than the 1900 and i could also oc it to xtx speeds. Just, would it be better to spend more or would a cheaper card be a better idea and last longer in this sort of price bracket? kingdingeling Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 x1950xt is you can! Otherwise x1900xt, it outperforms the x1950pro. But the x1950xt is king though, of course OC it to xtx speeds
Nemo Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 And either of those cards will support the Stanford GPU folding client

bigred Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 the 1950pro vs the 1900XT goes to the 1900XT... except for ONE detail. crossfire. the 1950 uses bridges similar to what nvidia does, and can use 2 standard cards put together. the 1900xt uses an external dongle and master card. really racks up the price, difficulty, and even full features of crossfire if you plan to go that route. Comp Dude2 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Hmm, i dunno about CF because the S3 board i want doesn't have CF so it would take a new board to get CF and a new board might be a few years away when the card won't be so great anymore. I am sorta intending to get a new board whenever core2 begins to limit me in games and is seriously holding me backing and getting a new board just for CF might cost more than just getting a faster card. And about folding well, i don't really see the point in burning extra electricity, i might get into it but definatly not like leaving the comp on 24/7. So, hmm i don't really know, might just stick with the Pro, i dunno wether it would be wise pushing my budget as this comp is supposed for offer pretty decent gaming proformance for as little as possible really.
