Flash2073 Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 I obtained the free 3dmark 03 from futuremarks downloads page, (a couple times from different sites) the first time nothing happened upon opening for the install. I check windows task manager and there are repeated instances of it and they keep opening. I got the exe again from a different location and it worked, but after viewing the first game benchmark it stops with the error of 'file corrupted' and I can't go any further. My system is as follows... asus p48sx mb w/ P4 2.4g @ 2.77 geforce 4 ti4200 w/64m ddr 768m kingston 266 ddr ac97 full 5.1 sound 120g maxtor 7200rpm 40g maxtor 7200rpm 1 cdrw 1 dvd I have tried just about every download site with the same problems. Anyone have an idea of what is going on? The only test that comes up as not supported is the 4th game benchmark. Thanks for your help in advance! Ronin Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 1) when installing do you have a firewall or somthing? 2) run scandisk 3) run spybot search and destroy(can get off of www.download.com 4) install a copy, if you get a currupted file, then just reinstall right over it. That doesnt work, run scan disk again so see if you have another currupted file.

Flash2073 Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 I do have a firewall, but I dropped it thinking somehow that caused a problem, still the same thing. I have a dsl connection so the file is not getting broken up or anything. I'll try the scandisk thing first, then re-install it again. DimensioN Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 where did you install it? i had it when i installed on my D: if you install it on the C: , the problems could be away
Flash2073 Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 Just tried the spybot, cleaned up that... and scandsk shows no errors found on any drives. I originally had it installed in the default location on the C: drive, just tried a different location and still same thing. I'm starting to think it's the download. The size of the one I have is 181,246KB. If anyone has a known good link, please let me know. (I'd really like to see the scores of this sys!) PS: Some of the ones from futuremarks page have had different sizes.

For the heck of it I am downloading it from 3 different sites now, and I'll do another scandisk before trying any. As soon as I can get it to work, I'll post my scores in the 3d mark 03 area. Thanks again! I was able to get it to work now, first run gave me a score less then 900 after some final tweeking I'm now getting 2230!!! DimensioN Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 huh, what system do you have? from 900 to 2203 is a big jump
Flash2073 Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 My sys is as follows... Asus p4s8x 2.4g @ 2.7 768m pc2700 ddr The first test that came up about 900, I was using the 40. ver of nvidia's drivers using the default screen res. I also had the ti4200's dx settings at best quality (everything) and was using the 4xs antialising, the 8x anisotropic filtering, IE: everything was at the best possible quality. The engine/mem I had at 285/525 I think... Also from bios 64m was the agp ram. When I got the 2230 score, I had changed a bunch of stuff... I had installed the most current driver 43.xx and had put all the settings for best preformance, app controled antialising, turned off the anisotropic filtering, and the bios I changed to 256m. I went from 2.7g to 2.9g and changed the ram timing and voltages (to keep system stable)... The screen res I changed from it's default to 800x600, and the ti4200 engine/mem I cranked up to 300/540. I did run another test with my sys where I normally run it (2.7g) with the ti4200 engine/mem @ 290/530 and using the default 3dmark03 settings and came up with a score of 1149. Guess I'll have to hope that Nvidia comes out with better drivers to fully support dx9 and that they utilize the card well. mxrider623 Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 and the ti4200 engine/mem I cranked up to 300/540. Which one do you have? I have a PNY and I could get my mem clock up past 545 but my core clock I could not get past 270. do you have the stock cooling? I just got a TT Volcano 9 and I took the 60mm fan off the stock heatsink it flows a LOT of air considering how small it is just about the same as my Antec case fans and those flow about 35cfm. but anyways i plugged it into the 3 pin for the south bridge and set it on top of the memory heatsinks on my video card and that helped some.
