kingdingeling Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 alrighty, thats good! However, you might not want to upgrade to a 4800 X2, as it will put out a LOAD of heat! If dual core, nothing above a X2 3800+, I would recommend a San Diego 3700+ or 4000+
snakieee Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 quick question... you think its alright if i buy it off ebay? or you think i sure buy a brand new one?
kingdingeling Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 ebay is fine, as long as you're pretty sure you won't get ripped off
airman Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 yeah - and if i were you i would definently look into a mobile chip. the mobiles take much less power and put out much less heat, so you won't have to worry about overheating/overdrawing power from the psu. most of the laptop psus are at most 150w if i'm not mistaken. bigred Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 we have the socket identified. did we verify a heat spreader or not?
sYstEmATiC Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 we have the socket identified. did we verify a heat spreader or not? yes we need to know if there is a heatspreader. when holding the chip in your hand out of the laptop, is there a metal plate covering the top or is it just a small raised square in the center? bigred Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 according to HP, that motherobard will NOT handle an X2. 3700+ is it's max. unfortunately it only gives a part number for the 3700+ and not if it's a desktop or mobile version
