Upgrading my laptop Processor

Ok... i want to upgrade my laptop Processor... now heres the question...

 

Will any thing with the same socket work or do i have to stay with the Sempron series?

 

Suggestion for Processor?

You may not be very good with computers, but please try to help us help you by giving us more information...

 

Chances are your motherboard can accept a higher CPU (if it isnt soldered into the motherboard i.e non-upgradeable), but if we don't know what model you laptop is or what socket it has then chances are we cant help you any better than you can help yourself... ;)

haha sorry its umm

 

HP Pavilion zv6000

 

iv taken the processor out before so its not soldered into the mobo

 

it does have a heatsink thing... with white stuff on it... im pretty sure that suppose to be there to i guess transfer heat...

 

i think it is a 754 socket... i think...

 

any other info needed?

Make sure that your sure it is 754 before you buy a new cpu.

 

Also the white stuff is probably eather a thermal pad or thermal paste and like you said it helps transfer heat from the cpu to the heatsink.

Have you checked if it as removable yet? IE: Is it on a socket or is it soldered in

 

And they were talking about the IHS on the CPU itself, does it have the metal plate on top?
