Zarius Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I'm finding it very difficult to source the 965P-DS3 in Canada. I have found a vendor now that has them in stock, but I'm hoping someone hear can answer a question for me before I go ahead and order it. I notice on the Gigabyte website that they have a 965P-DS4, but I can't find it for sale. Does anyone know if it is going to be released in Canada/USA in the near future? Would I be better off to by the DS3, or wait on the DS4? I'm hoping to build a new machine within the next 30 days and I'm not sure if I should get the board now (before this vendor doesn't have it either), or wait in the hope the newer model will be available. If anyone has the inside track, or alternately has suggestions on other options for a comparable system board I'd appreciated the input. Regards, Zar. Zarius Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I'm not worried about one less PCI-e slot, but the SATA controller perks my interest. I am planning to run multiple operating systems on this system, and one of the issues I've had with Red Hat Enterprise 4.0 is SATA compatability... Do you mind if I ask you what the cost was and where you puchased the board from? I have yet to find a vendor that has the DS4 for sale. I checked Tigerdirect both .ca and .com, as well as NCIX, and newegg.com and none of them had it listed. NCIX has the DS3 for $177.00 but thats all I've found so far. Thanks in advance. Zar. kingdingeling Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 http://www.crayeon3.com/c3/pc-1115-6-.aspx <-- DS4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813128012 <-- DS3 http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-965PDS3 <-- DS3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16813128323R <-- DQ6 The DS4 I linked to, I have no idea what that shop is like, I wouldn't try it out though. It seems like the DS4 is really not sold anywhere in the US atm? The 965P-DS3 is a great choice though. If you have the extra $$$ available, the DQ6 is the top gigabyte board out there. Zarius Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Ok thanks, I guess I'll pick up the DS3 while it's still available, the DQ6 is probably overkill for my needs. http://www.crayeon3.com/c3/pc-1115-6-.aspx <-- DS4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813128012 <-- DS3 http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-965PDS3 <-- DS3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16813128323R <-- DQ6 The DS4 I linked to, I have no idea what that shop is like, I wouldn't try it out though. kingdingeling Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 be sure to get the 965P not the 965G, the P is way better for overclocking and advanced settings than the G version.
road-runner Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 (edited) Yea do not get the G unless you are not overclocking. I have the DQ6 its supposed to be 12 phase and has a crazy cooler on the back of the MB where the DS4 is 6 or 8 phase and no cooler on the back. The DQ6 is supposed to run 2 sets of Raid at one time. I just got mine Friday so I have not really done anything other than SuperPi and OCCT.
