it just may be time for

I guess i may not be able to wait to replace my computer by the time unreal tournament 2007 arrives in june, i may build it earlier than anticipated. so while i have had a wonderful time in amd and ddr world i think i will move on to conroe and ddr2. the g.skill HZ for ddr is good (based on other's results and not on mines) so will it also be a good performer in the ddr2 form? while im not trying to break the bank on ram alone I also do not want some ram that will not yield good results (i.e like my ram, different story). heres a list of ddr2 ram that i am looking at.

I am also open to suggestions about best bang for the buck solutions too. In the mean time I will continue to search for some more possible choices and detailed reviews (haven't seen a lot of those lately).

-Conroe chip will be the E6600 or E6700, the motherboard is undecided but probably the evga 680i board.

I'm sure you plan on overclocking, because, well, you're you. Maybe you should go for some PC7200, just to give you soe headroom.

I have also heard that the E6300 is an awesome overclocker itself. It seems as though the major price break, though, hits at the E6400.

this is the stuff you want! Firky and I both have them, these sticks ROCK! currently clocked at 425MHz 4-4-4-12, they are fast and look really good too ;) I have yet to try anything above 425 @ 4-4-4-12, but I am confident they would do 450 or more.

Get an E6600, not worth the extra ton of moolah for the E6700. Mainboard wise I would check out the DFI board that came out, read some review about it and stuff, that could be interesting for overclocking. However, Bigred said it had a short lifetime .....

G.Skill DDR2 HZ 800=Micron D9= 1100-1200 @ 5-5-5-15 Very good sticks, have the crucial version (Basically the same stuff)

Those are highly reccomended :) And an e6600 is the sweet spot. Do you plan on going ATI or nVidia, cause there is a serious lack of a decent SLI board atm :( The RD600 is already out and the 680is have all kinds of problems

The homepage of the eVGA website fervently boasts the 680i is fixed! There is also this. The only difference is the warranty.

The SATA issues were fixed, a lot of people who got the board in the first couple months, couldn't get into windows cause it corrupts... that is fixed

but there is about a billion other issues with it. severe vcore droop, memory killers, dead boards, the list goes on and on

the board i havent picked yet (still not sure what to pick, perhaps another DFI) but for now ill probably stick with my 7800gtx. reminds me, ill have to try 2.8v-2.9vdimm on my HZ and see if those things will work stable past 263mhz... for video card i guess i can wait especially since ive seen on ZZM a suite case containing a CF x1950xt setup that looks appealing and of course micron d9 chips are good performers :D

You guys are making me so jealous! I am happy with the rig that I have, and very excited to play with my FX-55 when my TEC cooler comes, but how much more fun could I have using that cooler with the gear you guys are talking about. Have fun, and keep us up to date about what you decide and how the tweaking goes. You can get in on king's S775 OC Competition!
