hndgns4hrts Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Not to be a jerk, but would you be able to clean up your English a little bit? If you clean up the original post and run it though spell check, that would help a lot.
tazwegion Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 (edited) [edited]hi to start this I was cleaning inside my PC with a duster type of product and when I went to remove the fan to clean it, I also removed my processer (by not paying attention), well I put it all back together and went to power it up and I only got the Acer screen. I restarted it and got nothing on the screen though it was powered up @ 100% speed so i turned off (again) and checked all the wires and trying again I got another Acer screen, so I pulled the power wire out... held the power button down for a minute or so and got nothing, I have a new processor ordered (thinking that is it what you all think every time i start pc it will power up but no display) every once in a while I get the Acer screen & f12 doesn't work thank you for looking at this post. Okay, I've a few questions... did the processor come away from the bottom of the heatsink when you removed it all? (If yes to above) did you clean off the old 'thermal goo' and replace with a fresh application? Did you ensure the processor went back in so the pins were aligned properly? What else did you clean (disconnect?) What is the model number of your Acer computer, or could you supply it's specifications? <_< Edited January 18, 2007 by tazwegion

tazwegion Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 (edited) Okay... my initial reaction is, are the processor pins okay? (see picture below) and of course the need to clean replace old thermal compounds off the bottom of the heatsink & top of processor If any of those tiny pins are damaged/broken you're up for a new processor the fact that you occassionally get a Acer boot screen/logo (then nothing) makes me think you may have disconnected the HDD perhaps? dias Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 pins are all fine and uniform and as for hdd i checked all conectors all seem to be in tacked as for as compound imma try to find some tomarrow as i stated pins like 5 of them in a row were bent at base on outer edge pushed in to others i used a eye tweazer to straten them and iif i look at processer pins now i couldnt tell you witch ones they were if i dont have enough therm paste on my processor will i get only boot screen // acer screen
Fanatic Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 The computer is not even posting. I lay money you fried the processor. The bent pins did not help nor did the fact you did not clean / reapply the TC. OBTW punctuation would help us all as well. Fanatic... some propriety system's I've encountered don't have a POST screen (unless you activate it in the BIOS) they've replaced it with their logo screen instead, but in this case it's definitely not completing system POST (Power On Self Test) I'm thinking that if you're not comfortable around PC components, rather than risk additional system damage & financial loss... take it to your Acer dealer/technician or a (long established) PC repair store Edited January 19, 2007 by tazwegion
